Research Topics
(1) Non -equilibrium Statistical Mechanics: It is a broad subject area in statistical physics. Our special interest includes the following area:
(a) Information entropy, non-equilibrium temperature and fluctuation theory.
(b) Barrier crossing dynamics.
(c) Directed motion in presence of unbiased random force.
(2) Nonlinear dynamics: One of the key areas in the nonlinear dynamics is the stochasticity in low dimensional system. We are interested to explore the origin of chaos and characterize the irregularity in low dimensional model systems.
(3) The phenomenon of aggregation is important in many areas of chemical sciences, such as, in precipitation and polymerization processes and also in micro-physics of cloud formation and in ecology. Environment plays an important role in this context . We are exploring the law of aggregation kinetics in the presence of the environment.
(4) The synchronization phenomenon (SP): It becomes a focal theme in the field of basic science because of its potential applications in biological clocks, chemical oscillators, coupled map lattices , coupled random frequency oscillators, cardio respiratory coupled system , etc. We are studying how the degree of synchronization depends on the characteristics of the environment and time delayed feedback. Synchronization process can be viewed in the same spirit of chemical reaction at non equilibrium state.
