Research interest
Organic-inorganic Hybrid Nanomaterials
We perform electronic structure analysis of hybrid systems based on various organic and inorganic nanomaterials so as to test their potential application in photo-voltaic devices, memory storage, biological imaging, etc. .
graphene and graphene-like materials
Based on DFT and NEGF methodologies we calculate the electronic structure and transport properties of different nanomaterials and nanojunctions. We try to predict the effect of doping on these materials.
Spectroscopy and Dynamics of Small Molecules
From the very beginning we are involved in predicting spectroscopic properties and quantum dynamics of electron transfer in small molecules on the basis of Fourier Grid Hamiltonian and Time Dependent Discrete Variable Representation.
About me
Prof. Pranab Sarkar was born in Kamargoria,Burdwan in 1969.He obtained both his B.Sc and M.Sc degree from the University of Burdwan. He obtained his Ph.D degree from IACS (Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science), Kolkata under supervision of Prof. S.P.Bhattacharya. During this time he was extensively involved in the research work, in the field of Theoritical and Computaional chemistry. In 1997 he joined The University of Montreal, Canada as a Post-Doctoral fellow. Subcequently he joined University of Saarland , Germany as a Post-Doctoral fellow. Currently he is holding the position of Professor of Chemistry at Visva-Bharati.
