Dr. Alakananda Hajra

Alakananda Hajra was born in Purba Medinipur in 1975. He obtained his M. Sc from IIT Kharagpur in 1998 and did M.Sc project work with Prof. Dipakranjan Mal. He did his Ph.D under the supervision of Prof. Brindaban C. Ranu at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata in 2002. Then he joined in SUNY at Albany, USA as a postdoctoral research fellow with Prof. Frank M. Hauser (2002-2004). Subsequently he moved to the University of Tokyo as a JSPS fellow, and worked with Prof. Eiichi Nakamura and Prof. Masaharu Nakamura (2004-2006). Currently he is an Assistant Professor in Visva-Bharati University. He also worked with Prof. Naohiko Yoshikai in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2011-2012). His research interests include development of new synthetic methodologies and green synthetic procedures.
